Live, work, and explore Canada with the Working Holiday Program. Begin an adventure of a lifetime while gaining valuable international experience and the freedom to work anywhere in Canada.
Working Holiday Program – A Global Adventure Awaits
The International Experience Canada (IEC) program allows young people from participating countries to live and work in Canada temporarily—usually for up to two years—while immersing themselves in Canadian culture and lifestyle.
Why Choose This Program?
Open Work Permit: Travel, live, and work anywhere in Canada without needing a job offer.
Flexibility & Freedom: Work for multiple employers in different locations while exploring.
Personal & Professional Growth: Develop soft skills, build experience, and make lifelong connections.
Eligibility Essentials
Must be a citizen of a participating country (usually 18–30 or 18–35 years old, depending on the agreement)
Valid passport covering entire stay
Minimum CAD 2,500 for initial settlement expenses
Comprehensive health insurance for full duration of stay
Proof of return travel or sufficient funds
No dependents allowed on your application
The Application Process
Create an IEC profile and wait for an Invitation to Apply (ITA) randomly from your country’s pool—some categories are first-come, first-served.
Submit your application, pay the required fees (IEC participation fee CAD 179.75, open work permit fee CAD 100, biometrics CAD 85), and upload documents.
Provide biometrics within 30 days of your request.
Travel itinerary and accommodation details
Following approval, you’ll receive a Port of Entry (POE) letter. Present this when arriving in Canada to activate your open work permit.
